Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio Flow Saddle

The Selle Italia SLR saddle has been in production for fifteen years. The base model has seen very few changes, with the Italian saddle maker choosing instead to offer variations on the SLR concept. Lots of riders like this "Flow" version with the central cut out. Selle Italia has been very successful with the Kit Carbonio, which traditionally features as lightweight, with the use of carbon fiber in the rails, and the base SLR shape and design. With the new CarboKeramic version, the SLR Kit Carbonio gets an upgrade , and with a listed weight of 125 grams, it stays light as well.

A great advantage of the new rail design is that you have a 7mm x 9mm rail- which actually fits most standard seatpost rail clamping systems, with the vibration damping properties of carbon rails, and maximum strength due to the use of ceramic material in the rail construction. The rails support the saddle differently than titanium rails do, and don't feel soft, or offer much vertical compliance. By attenuating vibration, the CarboKeramic rails limit fatigue from road noise over the course of a long day, but keep the saddle structure stiffer for a more consistent ride quality. Not every rider wants a saddle that gives too much. Ideally you want comfort from fit and other tech, but a saddle that maximizes the energy created during the pedal stroke. A saddle that gives too much is actually limiting that power transmission.

The shell is a 70/30 Nylon/carbon blend, which again keeps the shell stiff, but can also conform to your body shape over time. It never gets soft, but does break in.The perforated Fibra-Tek cover is both durable, and minimizes friction and heat build-up. At 131mm wide at the rear, and 275mm in length, the SLR Kit Carbonio Flow is truly a saddle for narrow sit-bone riders who prefer a minimalist, lightweight, stiff racing saddle with some undercarriage relief (an S2 on the Selle Italia idmatch system). If you have always loved the base SLR, but you want a firmer platform, lighter weight, and the benefits of the 7mm x 9mm CarbonKeramic rails, the SLR Kit Carbonio CarboKeramic saddle was designed for you.

Excellent sadle. Very comfortable despite the feather weight. Cut out is a big improvement for me vs. the original SLR. I recommend it to all wanting a high performance, light weight and comfortable saddle.

this saddle is very comfortable and it looks awesome. my only complaint would be the weight. Mine came in at 141g’s unlike what it says on the saddle. its advertised weight is 120g’s. too bad

I love this saddle! As a weight weenie, I was looking to drop some substantial weight in my quest for a sub 14lb bike. I’ve used cutout saddles since 1997 and, they do their job, I haven’t had a numbness issue since I switched- I’ve used selle italia’s trans am max and trans am as well as a forte cutout saddle and most recently, the selle san marco magma mgc (not a cutout but a recessed channel). The only one that was a total disaster was the magma-- no flex, no give, no numbness but it was painful to ride over 30 miles. I DID NOT BUY MY SLR flow from Excel- they weren’t carrying it when I bought it, I got mine from overseas (for an extra $40)-- This saddle is quite similar to the trans am, only lighter, much lighter- mine came in on the heavy side at 132g and it’s got some flex and its extremely comfortable (for me). It’s always nice to not give up comfort and knock off almost 100g!
