Equipment > Components > Power Meters > Power Meter - Cranksets

Description

Adding a power meter to a Rival AXS build used to mean tacking on an aftermarket left crankarm and hoping the aesthetics worked out. SRAM took the reliability, elegance and features of Quarq's crank-based power meter and dropped the barrier to entry by housing the new power meter platform entirely within the DUB spindle for clean integration that fits more bikes. That means the sensors live inside the axle itself — no visible pod on the non-drive arm, no spider-mounted electronics — and the crankset looks identical to the standard Rival AXS unit from every angle.

The measurement point is the spindle, it's single-sided (left-leg only), and the added weight is roughly 40 grams over the standard crankset. Power transmits over ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart, zero-offset calibration is supported, and it runs on a single AAA lithium battery good for 400 hours with IPX7 waterproofing. That AAA runtime is the practical selling point over rechargeable spider-based meters — one battery gets you through most of a season, and you can swap in a fresh one at the trailhead without a charger.

The DUB spindle interface is what makes the compatibility story work. The Rival AXS power meter utilizes a DUB spindle, so any DUB drive-side crank arm is technically compatible with this DUB non-drive-side crank arm and power meter — meaning if you have a DUB crankset that is either RED or Force, this Rival power meter will fit. It will not retrofit older GXP or BB30 Rival cranksets, and you'll need a DUB bottom bracket in your frame's shell standard (BSA, PressFit 30, BB86, etc.) to run it.... Read More
