Maxxis Ignitor EXO TR Tubeless Tire
Maxxis considers the Ignitor The Classic, and who are we to argue? This tire has won World Cup races from XC to Enduro classes and is one of the most visually recognizable tires available. With the release of the Ignitor EXO Tubeless Ready version, more riders can take advantage of the incredible amount of design and material knowledge that Maxxis has developed. A quick look at the Ignitor could elicit the thought this could be a great mud tire because it just looks aggressive. You may be surprised to know that Maxxis considers this to be a great loose conditions, loose over hardpack, and semi-soft dirt tire. You don't see mud in that list, though it can handle the occasional sloppy mud slog. Look more closely at the Ignitor and you see a low profile, relatively open set of pentagonal knobs in a diamond formation. This tells you that speed and low rolling resistance were priorities at design. You also see two set of pentagonal knobs alternating on the shoulder, which deliver excellent grip and consistent feel from the rounded casing. With the larger tire/ground contact patch of a 29er, the Ignitor is a joy to rip around on.
The shoulder knobs make for sure cornering and traction at all times, but especially in a soft, or loose corner where it can be difficult to hold your line. The combination of these qualities have made the Ignitor a great competition tire, and wire beaded versions can be seen on many low to mid-range mountain bikes sold in the US. This is a tire that inspires confidence and is versatile enough for many riders in most conditions. This why we feel the EXO sidewall protection and Tubeless Ready features truly up the ante for the Ignitor. Now you can run lower the lower pressures racers have been using all these years, but every day, and not worry about sidewall damage or pinch flats. We expect most 100-120mm travel riders to notice increased confidence on loose over hardpack in particular, and rejoice in rooty, rocky trail trails that have previously caused the caution that destroys flow. Ride with more confidence and have more fun with the Ignitor EXO Tubeless Ready Tire from Maxxis. What more can you ask for?
